Instructions:

In this lesson you will go through the student notebook pages, Discover Equivalent Fractions and Patterns with Equivalent Fractions.

Watch the Nearpod video about Equivalent Fractions to help you. Remember, it will not follow the notebooks pages but give you information to guide you in filling them out.

On the Discover Equivalent Fractions page you will use models to 'cut' (draw a line) the model into a certain number of pieces. You will then count how many total pieces you have (denominator) and how many shaded pieces you have (numerator) and write the equivalent fraction in the space provided.

On the Patterns with Equivalent Fractions page you will be doing the exact same thing but this time it wants you to see the connection between equivalent fractions and multiplication and that when you "cut" the model into a specific number of pieces you are also using that number to multiply the original fraction to get an equivalent fraction.

The Generating Equivalent Fractions page is provided to give you more practice.
