Lesson 16: Greedy Train Game

25 Minutes

Mrs. Ashlee Deduijtsche

Instructions:

YOU WILL NEED A PAIR OF DICE FOR THIS ACTIVITY

PLEASE READ -
Please follow the instructions here, they are different from what is on the worksheet because we are not in classroom setting nor are we completing this activity all together.

GOAL OF THE GAME -
Get the most points, but don't lose it all being too greedy!

INSTRUCTIONS -
There are 6 rounds, your total score is the sum of all 6 rounds.
1. Roll your dice (or die twice if you only have one) and total the numbers. For example, if you rolled a 3 and a 6, your total would be 9.
2. If you are happy with that score, you can stop and move one to round 2.
3. If you want to go for more points, roll just one die. If you roll a 1, 3, 4, 5, or 6, that number is added to you running total. For example, your score after the first roll was a 3, you may decide you want to roll again to add to your running total. So, you roll again, and this time roll a 5, now your running score is 8. And you move on to the next round. If you roll a 2 though, the round is over and your score is 0, regardless of what you first rolled.
4. You will repeat these steps for six rounds.

On the worksheet, you will record your score for each round and then total your score.

For the class data I have attached a mock class and their data for you to use.

After you have recorded all the data, you will use that data to analyze and construct graphs.
